News: The Platform Group Brings "The Homemade Sketch Show" to YouTube

Creating new works is nothing new to Shara Ashley Zeiger, and when the world shut down, her brain turned on. Enlisting an extremely diverse team of skilled multi-hyphenates to create a full weekly sketch comedy show, The Homemade Sketch Show was born. They don’t have a huge budget and lots of bells and whistles staying at home, but the beauty is that no one else does either. “Homemade. Well Done. Funny” is their brand. They don’t have a huge production studio, but this new way of working invites collaborations crossing states and even countries. The cast and crew are in NYC, Miami, Toronto, and LA. Each week will have a new host, a musical guest from across the globe, and a slew of brand new comedy sketches created and performed while socially distancing.

The show premiered May 8th and will land on their YouTube channel each Friday at 6pm EDT, in the watch party of their Facebook group, and via sketches through the week on Instagram.

The regular cast/writers/filmmakers include: Shara Ashley Zeiger (Bull, The Plot Against America), Tanya Perez (Orange is the New Black, Blue Bloods), Jessica Sherr (Claws, Betty Davis Ain’t for Sissies), Eric Lockley (Luke Cage, The Movement Theatre Company), Christine Aziz (12 Monkeys, The Firm), Doug Schneider (The Plot Against America, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Nicky Nasrallah (Panacea Sketch Troupe, Songbusters, Selena Vyle- Drag), Matthew Rini (American Kirare-Yaku), and Chelsea Gonzalves (New Dogs Old Tricks).

Nancy Melchert (UCB NY) joins on the editing/post-production side.

Hosts so far have included Joe Aaron Reid (West End’s Dreamgirls and In The Heights, Broadway’s Chicago, If/Then, Curtains, etc.) and Camille Theobald (Caroline's on Broadway Headliner), and musical guests have included NYC singer/songwriter Molly Gazay and Broadway Records recording artist Michael Mott.
